Just like in fairy tales, all’s well that ends well. To close its Out of Competition program, CANNESERIES invites the audience to discover the wonderful adventure of Queen Máxima. Argentinian star Delfina Chaves will be in Cannes to introduce this epic, that is part love story, part captivating drama. Described as “the new The Crown” by Variety, the series will be a World Premiere.

“Rom-com meets history is a rare proposal in the world of series, and royal History, even more! So when we discovered MÁXIMA, written among others by the wonderful Marnie Blok , we knew it would be a wonderful gift for our audience in Cannes!”, Claire-Marine Pietriga (Artistic Direction of CANNESERIES)

The series is produced by Rachel van Bommel from Millstreet Films, in co-production with FBO and Beta Film, with the support of the Dutch Film Fund Production Incentive, the MEDIA program of Creative Europe, and the Belgian Tax Shelter. The series is adapted from the book “Máxima Zorreguieta: Motherland” by Marcia Luyten.

The series tells the life story of the Argentinian-born Dutch Queen  Máxima. When the press catches wind of her relationship with the
crown prince, heated discussions erupt about her father’s political career in the Videla regime. Can Máxima stay true to herself without
giving up her family?
