H.E. Abdulrahman Al Owais: Parliamentary work in the UAE is an engine for the advancement of society and for meeting the leadership’s aspirations to secure leading positions on the world stage.

His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, Minister of State for Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs, asserted that the UAE’s parliamentary experience is a key pillar of the country’s journey towards excellence across all fields and sectors at the regional and international levels.

“This journey is centred around the fundamental idea that parliamentary work is an engine for the advancement of society and for meeting the aspirations of our wise leadership to secure leading positions on the world stage,” H.E. added.

Making his statement on International Day of Parliamentarism, which is celebrated on 30 June every year, H.E. Al Owais stressed that the UAE continues to strengthen the values of Shura (consultation) established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of the UAE, guided by the exceptional leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Their Highnesses his two Vice Presidents – H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court – along with Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates.

Minister Al Owais went on to note that the UAE provides every resource that contributes to advancing the parliamentary system, empowering it to play a more effective and influential role in the lives of Emirati citizens, and to become a key player in achieving the accomplishments that enable the UAE to outpace other nations around the world.

Moreover, H.E. explained that achieving the wise leadership’s vision for the UAE’s future calls for enhancing collaboration and integration of roles between the government and the Federal National Council, as well as for establishing coordination processes that meet the leadership’s ambitions for UAE citizens to occupy top positions globally and across all fields.

H.E. Al Owais highlighted that this inclusive vision for serving the nation and the tireless efforts to advance its status lay the foundations for a strong team spirit and close cooperation towards success. “This will also be key for sustaining the momentum,” he added, “in addition to bolstering dedication and multiplying efforts towards further achievements, in line with the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071 Plan to position the UAE at the forefront of countries across all fields.

“The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs strives towards enhancing coordination processes between the government and the Federal National Council, establishing practical and effective mechanisms to direct parliamentary efforts towards the interests of the nation and its citizens,” H.E. explained. “Furthermore, the Ministry works to strengthen relations between the government and the Council by launching innovative initiatives that enhance performance.”

H.E. Minister Al Owais reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to using all capabilities, resources, and tools at its disposal to drive continuous improvement in performance and efficiency, in line with the UAE Government’s aspirations to set a global example and become a role model emulated around the world.
