The third session of ‘Reading Between the Lines’ focuses on the film Khamosh Pani (Silent Waters), directed by Sabiha Sumar and written by Paromita Vohra that was released in 2003. Set in the late-1970s in a village in Pakistan, the story revolves around Ayesha, a widowed mother, and her young son caught in the midst of radical changes in the country that bring back her memories of the Partition. The session is organised in collaboration with Jameel Arts Centre as a companion to the exhibition ‘Proposals for a Memorial for Partition’ curated by Murtaza Vali at Art Jameel.

The event will take place on Saturday, 5th November from 5pm – 7pm. The film is in Punjabi language with English subtitles and will be followed by a discussion conducted in English.

Pre-registration is mandatory due to limited seats.
