As if it were a replay, the three-year-old gray colt Ozymandias Rach, once again ridden by Ruberlei Viana, achieved a second consecutive victory in the fourth race of the Wathba Stallions Cup for Fillies & Colts III held on July 29 at the Cidade Jardim Racecourse, at the Jockey Club of São Paulo.

Disputed over 1,200 meters on dirt for 3-year-old and older, the pair repeated the difference of 7 ¾ lengths of advantage this time over his half-brother Õmega Rach (*Uzbek Du Lion x Orchestra Rach by Vaillant Rach), who was ridden by Gabriel Santana, apprentice jockey champion of Statistics 2023-2024; in addition to breaking the record in the 1,200 meters on dirt with a time of 1:22:787, which was held by Atentaddo Rach when he won his first race, the Prêmio Haras Sahara, with a time of 1:22:966 on October 27, 2013.

The Wathba Stallions Cup, which is part of the international calendar of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Racing Festival, began to take shape at the entrance to the final straight when, attacking from the outside, Ozymandias Rach took the lead and maintained it until the end.

The battle between Ômega Rach and RG Kalifa (Cáceres CSM x Caldas CSM by Pavel Rach), ridden by Jeane Alves, for second place was exciting and it was decided in the last few meters, when Ômega Rach, in an excellent sprint on the outside, secured the position. A one-two for trainer Lucas Quintana and breeder Rach Stud.

Bred and owned by Claúdio Guimarães Ribas and trained by Estanislau Petrochinski, RG Kalifa and RG El Bak (RG Karat x *Endora by Wojslaw) finished in third and fourth places respectively

“We at Rach Stud are very happy with this second consecutive victory by Ozymandias and for breaking the 1,200-meter record that had stood for 11 years; and also for showing the consistency of our bloodlines, since Orchestra Rach won important races in Cidade Jardim. Two of her sons shined and for the first time a double between two brothers from the same mare. I want to highlight that this was Ômega Rach’s first race after a period away and he gave us this joy with the second place. We are very hopeful for both of them, because we know that in the coming months we will have tough races with animals that are just arriving and experienced animals that are returning”, stated Ricardo Jamil Saliba.

Trainer Lucas Quintana said: “It was a wonderful race in which Ozymandias showed that he is an exceptional colt with a lot of potential. And double happiness with Omega, who after some time away for treatment, returned with great determination and secured second place. We were blessed with a beautiful race and a double with the exceptional products of Rach Stud.”

Almir José Ribeiro, Racing Director of the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA), stated: “Firstly, I would like to thank the trust of our sponsor HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Emirates Racing Authority; who has honored and encouraged the consolidation of Arabian horse racing in Brazil since 2015, especially Miss Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival, who has always highlighted our races in the Wathba Stallions Cup World Calendar.”

“My thanks to ABCCA and our breeders who always support us and put the best of their breeding in this showcase of horse sport that is the Jockey Club of São Paulo, which welcomes us with open arms for another great spectacle that was this race.”

“Ozymandias Rach’s undisputed victory and the breaking of a record set by the icon Atentaddo VE more than 10 years ago, which proves the strength and the great leap in quality that the Saliba family’s breeding has been implementing with each new generation of Arabian sport horses in Brazil.”

“It is always good to remember that Ozymandias Rach is the son of Orchestra Rach, who simply led the statistics in Cidade Jardim when she won several races and produced other winners, proving all her talent as an athlete and as a dam of winning athletes. Once again, congratulations to the Saliba Family for bringing us another great winner.”
