Passamarie Rach takes second consecutive victory

Passamarie Rach won the Grand Prix UAE President Cup Series For Fillies by 1 and ¼ lengths over her stablemate Normandia Rach; followed by Stud Brasil Gávea in third place.
After an indefinite race until the final 400 meters, jockey Idevaldo Silva, who was riding the three-year-old grey, Passamarie Rach, took advantage of the moment when Normandia Rach, ridden by Michael Silva, overtook on the outside and attacked on the inside, thus taking the lead in the race.
Normandia Rach continued in pursuit, but Passamarie Rach managed to maintain the pace, opening up a 1 and 1/4 length advantage to cross the finish line in first place, thus confirming her favoritism in the race.
The Grand Prix UAE President Cup Series For Fillies, which is part of the UAE President Cup Arabian Purebred Classic South America Mondial Brazil, was held over 1,400 meters on turf for fillies –year-old and older at the Hipódromo de Cidade Jardim, Jockey Club de São Paulo, organized by the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA).
Both Passamarie Rach (Mared Al Sahra x Passion Rach by Vaillant Rach) and Normandia Rach (*Uzbek Du Lion x Novella Rach by Voltaire Rach) are bred and owned by Rach Stud and trained by Lucas Quintana.
Ricardo Jamil Saliba, from Rach Stud, highlighted the importance of the victory: “This was Passamarie’s second victory, who is a daughter of Mared Al Sahra and her name is a tribute to Mared’s mother, Massamarie, who is a mare I admire a lot. It was her second race and second victory and we believe she will improve a lot, as she had an excellent race time. I would like to highlight the second place of Normandia Rach, who had been away for a while and returned in very good shape.”
“The battle between the two was very beautiful, which made us very proud to have two Rach animals competing for first place. Passamarie’s difference is her dam, Passion Rach, champion of four races and winner of the only Group 1 race, Al Maktoum Cup Grand Prix on November 11, 2018.”
Trainer Lucas Quintana said that “Passamarie Rach is an excellent filly; she won her first race 45 days ago and had already shown all her class and evolved much more. She proved to be a racing animal that gave us a show today, as she is sired by Mared Al Sahra with the best mare we have had to date, Passion Rach.”
Jockey Idevaldo Silva declared: “It was a very well-contested race at the beginning and I was waiting for the right moment to attack, because Passamarie is a filly that likes to run and doesn’t give up. In the final 400 meters, we managed to overtake Normandia Rach and I tried to open up as much as possible because she and Michael were right behind us. It was exciting to win this big prize with her.”

The Grand Prix UAE President Cup For Fillies was organized by the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association in partnership with the Jockey Club of São Paulo.
