Stud Brasil Itacaré Secures First Victory at Cidade Jardim

Published

Trained by Thiago Haidar, Stud Brasil Itacaré, a five-year-old bay mare, claimed her first victory in the José Antonio Jacovás Prize – UAE President Cup Series For Colts & Fillies 2025/2026 Season, on August 30 at the Cidade Jardim Racetrack, Jockey Club of São Paulo (JCSP), in an event organized by the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association (ABCCA).

The race, contested over 1,200 meters on turf for three-year-olds and up without a win, marked the debut of four horses: three sired by Mared Al Sahra and one by Asraa Min Albarq—all paternal grandsons of Amer—and the first generation of horses specifically bred for racing in Brazil.

From the break, Stud Brasil Itacaré (Mondesir x *Manari

by Dormane), skillfully ridden by Jeane Alves, two-time JCSP champion jockey, stayed in third place until the home stretch. She launched a strong outside move against her paternal half-brothers Pomerol Rach** (Mared Al Sahra x Patrizia Rach by *Eksport) and Gaius Rach (Mared Al Sahra x Gaea Rach by *Almir SWSB), taking the lead and crossing the finish line 2 ½ lengths ahead of Pomerol Rach in second and Gaius Rach in third.

Owner Bolivar Figueiredo, a traditional breeder of Arabian show horses, celebrated enthusiastically after just his fourth start with Itacaré: “The feeling that horse racing gives us is indescribable. Until the very last seconds, you don’t know what will happen, and when you cross the line first, it’s a mix of emotions.”

Trainer Thiago Haidar added: “Stud Brasil Itacaré won, and she won well. She has always run in major stakes races against strong horses, even finishing second once. Now the work is to move forward, preparing her for longer distances where I believe she will perform even better and achieve new victories.”

Almir José Ribeiro, ABCCA Racing Director, stated: “We would like to thank His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Presidential Court of the United Arab Emirates, for his trust in us, as he has honored and supported the consolidation of Arabian horse racing in Brazil; and especially His Excellency Faisal Al Hamani, Secretary General of the UAE President Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses, for his confidence in our Arabian racing program, now in its sixth year, as well as ABCCA, our breeders, and Arabian Sport Horse enthusiasts.”

Finally, Ricardo Jamil Saliba, Vice President of Racing at ABCCA, presented the trophies to the owner, trainer, and jockey, winners of the José Antonio Jacovás Prize – UAE President Cup Series For Colts & Fillies 2025/2026 Season, organized by ABCCA in partnership with the Jockey Club of São Paulo.
