Cromo D’Jok Trio Achieves First Victory
After a brilliant and exciting debut in August in which he lost by half a head, the five-year-old gray Cromo D’Jok Trio takes his first victory with a 5 and ¼ length advantage over the others in the UAE President Cup Series For Colts & Fillies II, held on September 21 at the Cidade Jardim Racecourse, at the Jockey Club of São Paulo.
In a balanced race in which the animals alternated in search of first place until the entrance of the big straight, Cromo D’Jok Trio (*D´Jok Py x RT Crysti by Nawwak NA), even straying from the others in the two curves of the trail , attacks from the outside under the excellent guidance of apprentice jockey Danilo Novais, takes the lead, moves away and leaves the battle for second place between Stud Brasil Gávea (Stud Brasil Mondesir x *Manari by Dormane) ridden by Jeane Alves and Monsenhor Rach (Seraphin Du Paon x Musa Rach by *Polonez) piloted by Ruberlei Viana.
The fight for second place was intense and was only decided in the final me-ters and here we must highlight the performance of Stud Brasil Gávea who in each race has shown all his ability to run and face the males of the Arabian breed in Cidade Jardim on equal terms. Special highlight for Monsenhor Rach who divided the public’s attention until the final arrival.
Trainer Thiago Haidar celebrated: “Cromo’s victory gives us hope for a promising future for him in racing. From his early training sessions to his debut, he showed that he would be competitive. On that occasion, he didn’t win because he wasn’t fully ready yet. Now, more mature and prepared, he demonstrated his qualities by winning with a large advantage. Apparently, the greater the distance, the better for him, and we have high expectations for his future.”
“Cromo had an excellent start and today he showed what he’s good at, run-ning and winning. In the debut race he was still adapting and even so we almost won. At the start of the straight I was sure that we would win because when we attacked from the outside we distanced ourselves from the others and it was just a matter of managing to cross and first place”, declared apprentice jockey Novais.
Renato Salvador, owner of Haras Trio, declares that the result proves the sporting prowess of Cromo’s family. “I followed Paulo and Ricardo Saliba’s tireless work to introduce Arabian horse races in Brazil. Pedro Lana always encouraged me to test a son of D Jok Py in races. It is important to start with a horse that has a racehorse pedigree and choose a competent and serious trainer, in this case Thiago Haidar.”
“Cromo’s father is our main stallion, D Jok Py, who now lives in France and comes from a family with a strong athletic background. One of his daughters, Allure BV, won the 1000 meters on turf and broke the Brazilian record for the distance. In addition, D Jok Py has proven offspring in Endurance, with victories in 100, 120 and 160 races. Cromo has great potential and we hope he will give us great victories like his brothers have given us in Endurance.”
Almir José Ribeiro, Racing Director of the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA) said: “The undisputed victory of Cromo D’Jok Trio proves its superiority in this important race, and makes it clear once and for all that the bloodlines of our Arabian Endurance Horse are also accredited to shine in the Arabian Horse races in Cidade Jardim. Congratulations to the breeder Renato Salvador, who with each race begins to write his story now in Cidade Jardim.”
“It is important to highlight that this new generation of animals that are in Cidade Jardim are already part of our Arab Sport Horse breeding program, being much more competitive and, therefore, we should certainly have in-creasingly competitive arrivals that provide an excellent show for spectators and for our breeders who, each year, place our Arabian Horse on an increasingly competitive level.”
“I would like to thank our sponsors, especially the trust of our sponsor HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Emirates Racing Authority; H.E Mr Faisal Al Hamani, CEO of the UAE President Cup, for their trust in the Arabian horse racing program in Brazil and for our fifth year of activities as our sponsor. And also the ABCCA and our breeders who practically took over Cidade Jardim on this sunny winter Saturday.”
Prêmio UAE President Cup For Colts & Fillies II was organized by Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association in partnership with the Jockey Club de São Paulo.
