‘Sleeping Beauties’: Reawakening Fashion– For The 2024 Met Gala, Oscar De La Renta dressed Kylie Jenner, Pamela Anderson, Lauren Sanchez, Sabrina Carpenter, Kerry Washington, Kris Jenner and more for the 2024 Met Gala.
With the dress code inspired by Author J.G. Ballard’sz “The Garden of Time”, The Met Gala’s gowns were enthralled by Oscar De La Renta designs that were unconventional for the heritage brand.
Whether it was a nod to the design technique or the woman wearing adorned in the gown, Oscar de la Renta’s Co-Creative Directors, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, found inspiration by the theme’s undertones of legacy, resilience, and renewal.
Kylie Jenner wore a custom Oscar de la Renta rosewater sculpted gown with pointed bust and oversized architected skirt.
The gown shape was inspired by many of the subjects’ classic gowns in Cecil Beaton’s photography– classic and couture.
Pamela Anderson glows in a custom Oscar De La Renta fawn crinkled chiffon gown with micro-pleating for her Met Gala Debut.
Lauren Sanchez wears a custom rosette mosaic gown with pearl and mirrored appliqués.
Sabrina Carpenter blooms in a custom bustier gown with bouffant skirt. Hand-painted by Co-Creative Director Fernando Garcia, the skirt is inspired by blossoming orchids the same color as Sabrina’s eyes.
Kerry Washington stuns n a custom corseted, suspended V-neckline gown in shades of deep plum and lavender. A train of hand-dyed satin and velvet pearl-embellished orchids follows in her wake.
Kris Jenner is radiant in a custom ivory satin ensemble with floral appliqués at the opera coat collar and an empire waist, fluted skirt gown.
